Park of Pontic Hellenism

The Association of Pontians of Kos "O Xeniteas" erected this monument in memory of the 353000 victims of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus. The southern shores of the Black Sea were inhabited by Greek settlers in the 8th century BC. and until 1922 they created a remarkable civilization, until Turkish nationalism uprooted this prosperous population from its ancestral homes
