Kata Beach, Kefalos

The Kata Beach is located just before Agios Theologos in Kefalos and got its name from the nearby Cape Kata. Because the name Kata seems a bit strange etymologically in Greek, it is probably a genitive case of "Kata," likely the name or nickname of a property owner in the area. According to Zarakas, the area (of) Kata is a coastal plain location approximately six kilometres west of the village of Kefalos, where there are remains of buildings. Close to the main beach lies a mini shipwreck, a boat on the coast. For many photographers, this shipwreck with the sunset in the background makes for an interesting subject.
