About Ancient Theatre of Kefalos, Palatia
Also known as the Theatre of the Municipality of Isthmion, the Hellenistic theatre of Kefalos overlooking Kamari is prominently located on the old acropolis of the ancient capital of the island at the site Palatia (Kefalos, in antiquity, was called Astypalaia and was the capital of the island until 366 BC). The ancient theatre of Kefalos, surrounded by low hills, is one of the three must-visit sites at the Palatia location. The other two are the ruins of the ancient Acropolis and the ruins of a Doric temple dedicated to Asclepius and Hygiea.
